Welcome to Vernon Square Preservation Society

Vernon Square Preservation Society invites all members and interested people to a glass of wine/AGM/ Subscriptions in the Garden on Saturday 26th May 2012 at 5pm. In order to share this unique island garden, designed in 1830, and why not bring a friend.

This is an opportunity for everyone to see for themselves the restoration work that we, as volunteers, have done so far. Also there will be a guided tour explaining our future plans to preserve this unique garden in Ryde.

There will be a Tidy-up in the Garden from 10am- 2pm (tea/coffee/cakes provided).

Ryde's Vernon Square Garden just off Melville Street is a green oasis of Calm , in this beautiful Regency seaside town. The garden is bordered by a beautiful mix of Regency and Victorian houses dating from 1828, nine of which are listed. The square of land that the garden now sits was originally intended to have a lodge built on it, luckily for present day residents of Ryde this never happened.

The Garden in Spring

The garden is a short walk from the junction of George Street and Melville Street, and is open to residents and holiday makers alike. The garden is available for hire for garden parties, photography assignments and art shows. The garden is now owned by the preservation society who maintain the garden with the help of donations and membership subscriptions.
